REHABILITATION  & boarding

This is our daily rate offered to horses that are in our care and receive rehabilitation therapies 3 -5 days per week. Cost is all inclusive of care, daily grooming, bathing & solarium, exercise/hand walking, and equipment use. Additional veterinary procedures, surgeries or bandage materials are billed separately. Daily grooming, blanket changes, and fly spray application included. Daily monitoring, care, and rechecks by Dr. Massie are included in the day rate. Shavings are billed at an additional $5/day.

Board provided to patients who require ophthalmic medications to be administered via SubPalpebral lavage system or topical ointments. Daily grooming, blanket changes, and fly spray application included. Daily monitoring, care, and rechecks by Dr. Massie are included in the day rate. Shavings are billed at an additional $5/day.

Improve performance and restore ease of movement with the Wilson-Meagher Method™ . The Wilson Meagher Method™  has been scientifically researched through a grant awarded by the American Massage Therapy Association Foundation, (currently the Massage Therapy Foundation). These techniques generate significant changes in muscle tissue, improving gait dynamics and an increase in the length of stride. The study can be found here "The Effects of Sports Massage on Athletic Performance and General Function". Equine SportsMassage sessions are $145 and billed separately.

Medication administration is included in day rate no matter the time or frequency of medication. The medications must be provided and if additional medications need to be purchased the owner will be billed through Massie Equine Veterinary Clinic depending on where medications are purchased.

If horse needs to be on special grain or owner wants to keep horse on their current grain we bill our cost of the grain to purchase. This grain will only be fed to your horse and any left over grain will be sent home with the horse at the end of their stay. We feed Purina products and we can help with a nutrition plan or find an equivalent to your horses feed that will match what they are currently eating if desired. 

These patients are in our care for wound care, post surgery care or colic monitoring, but not include therapy equipment usage. Rate includes daily grooming, blanket changes, fly spray application, medication administration, and exercise as prescribed (hand walking, and/or hand grazing). If equipment usage is desired it can be added al la carte. . Daily monitoring, care, and rechecks by Dr. Massie are included in the day rate. Weekly bathing and solarium treatments included. Shavings are billed at an additional $5/day.

We offer premier boarding for select clients and retired horses needing extra care. Boarding includes veterinarian care onsite, facility manager onsite 24/7, feeding 3x/day, turn-out, grooming, arena use & stall cleaning. Training & exercise, Bathing & solarium treatements, Day Spa treatments & Regenerative Medicine therapies also available in addition to board. Shavings are billed at an additional $5/day.

We have an onsite farrier who can manage your needs or you are welcome to schedule your farrier and coordinate with our staff. $20 for handling and management of horse during farrier appointment. Podiatry cases are  managed here with our farrier and Dr. Massie and then turned over to your farrier once prescription is established.

Daily monitoring, care, and rechecks by Dr. Massie are included in the day rate. Any emergency requiring medical attention will be billed by Massie Equine Veterinary Clinic depending on who renders the care. Any additional imaging needed for rechecks including radiographs and ultrasound will also be billed through Massie Equine. 

Disposable bandage material must be provided or purchased. If additional materials are purchased they will be billed through Massie Equine Veterinary Clinic depending on where purchased. Bandage changes are included in the day rate. Standard reusable stable bandages are supplied at no additional charge.
