our new diagnostic arena ground

Last week the last of our sand was delivered and we have begun diagnostic soundness exams here at our facility. We're excited to share it with you. Here's Andria and Pep testing it out.

EMBRACING TELEHEALTH SERVICES

To improve client accessibility, we have introduced Telehealth Services, offering consultations through phone, text, and email instead of in-person visits. We encourage you to utilize this service for rechecks and less urgent issues your animals may be experiencing post annual exam.

Telehealth visits enable Dr. Massie to evaluate cases and adjust treatment plans in a fraction of the time it takes for an in person exam. By formalizing these services, we are adhering to the laws and regulations set by the Veterinary Medical Board regarding valid veterinarian-client-patient relationships. Virtual consultations for rechecks or follow-up examinations are often feasible, saving you the expenses associated with farm visits and in clinic rechecks or exams.

Telehealth fees reflect Dr. Massie's expertise and time invested in devising a patient care strategy, and we trust that you will find this service valuable. Telehealth consults are tiered according to level of care needed to be reflected in the medical record and start at $45.

Prior to the scheduled consultation, please share your list of concerns and any relevant images via text or email so that Dr. Massie can adequately prepare and address all issues. Additionally, please confirm the most suitable phone number for reaching you at the appointed time. Call 541-636-1191 or text us through your pet portal to schedule a telehealth appointment.

DO NOT USE THESE PRODUCTS FOR FLEA AND TICK!

PLEASE do not use Hartz products.

Tetrachlorvinphos (TCVP) is a chemical commonly utilized in pet products for eliminating fleas and ticks. While effective in eradicating these pests, TCVP poses a significant risk to pets and their owners, particularly young children and expectant mothers. Numerous pets have suffered adverse effects from this pesticide. Even minimal exposure can lead to irreversible damage to a child's cognitive development and heighten the likelihood of learning disabilities. Symptoms of TCVP poisoning may manifest as nausea, vomiting, wheezing, or in severe cases, muscle spasms, seizures, respiratory failure, and fatality.

The following pet flea and tick products that contain TCVP or other harmful chemicals:

  • Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Collar

  • Pet Armor Flea & Tick Collar

  • Zodiac Flea and Tick Collar

  • Adams Plus Flea & Tick Collar

  • Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Powder

  • Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Spray

  • Bio Spot Flea and Tick Collar

  • Seresto Flea and Tick Collar

If you suspect TCVP poisoning to straight to the Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center (Pet ER) in Central Point, OR (or your local referral center).

Emergency exam discounts for full service equine clients

We are proud of our commitment to providing excellent care for our patients, which is why we prioritize our emergency availability to clients who fully utilize our services. We limit emergency coverage to equine owners who subscribe to our gold standard of care of an annual exam, dental float, and core vaccinations. Discounts are offered to clients who choose our comprehensive service package.

• Clients who utilize our services for annual check-ups, dental care, and vaccinations will receive a 50% discount on emergency examinations.

• Clients who select annual check-ups and vaccinations, excluding dental care, will be eligible for a 35% discount on emergency examinations.

The Oregon Veterinary Medical Board mandates a visit within the past year to establish a doctor-patient relationship for legal medication dispensing and advice. Company policy also mandates that patients stay current on nationally recognized core vaccines.  If we cannot verify up-to-date vaccination status, we will be unable to offer emergency coverage.

FORWARD BOOKING FOR ALL ANNUAL APPOINTMENTS & rechecks

Forward booking is the practice of scheduling patients' next appointments before they leave the current visit, encompassing various types of exams and healthcare visits such as medical progress exams and preventive healthcare exams. This proactive approach ensures that patients are seen in a timely manner to address any potential issues early on, allowing us to deliver optimal care. Many of our clients find this method convenient and essential in preventing missed check-ups that could identify health problems. We believe this is in the best interest of our patients.

Here's how forward booking operates:

  • When you schedule your annual wellness exam, we will automatically book your 6-month recheck and 12-month annual exam at the same time as your current appointment.

  • For urgent care visits or lameness exams, rechecks will be scheduled accordingly.

  • You will receive an email confirmation for these future appointments.

  • Three days before your appointment, you will receive an email reminder asking you to confirm your attendance.

  • You can adjust your appointment using our app or by calling 541-636-1191.

Start by having your hay analyzed. We recommend using https://equi-analytical.com/. After that, contact us to discuss the results and combine your forage with a ration balancer or complete feed. It's as straightforward as that!
