March: A Fresh Start

March is here, and with it comes the buzz of spring and a fresh wave of energy. As the days get longer and the weather warms up, horse lovers can really feel the excitement in the air. This time of year shakes off the winter blues and gets us all looking forward to what’s ahead.

With our grand opening coming up in May, we can’t wait to share some awesome new offerings that will make life even better for both horses and their owners!

Spring Pet Issues and Preventatives

As the weather warms up and nature comes back to life, pet owners should be aware of common springtime issues that can affect their furry companions. Here are some prevalent concerns and suggested preventative measures:

1. Allergies

Just like humans, pets can suffer from seasonal allergies due to pollen, mold, and other allergens.

  • Preventative Measures: Keep pets indoors during high pollen counts, bathe them regularly to remove allergens, and consult a veterinarian for allergy medications if necessary.

2. Fleas and Ticks

Spring marks the beginning of flea and tick season, which can lead to discomfort and potential diseases for pets.

  • Preventative Measures: Use veterinarian-recommended flea and tick prevention treatments, regularly check your pets for signs of infestations, and maintain a clean yard.

3. Heartworm Disease

Heartworm is a serious condition transmitted by mosquitoes, which become more active in spring.

  • Preventative Measures: Administer monthly heartworm preventatives and schedule regular veterinary check-ups to ensure your pet is heartworm-free.

4. Poisonous Plants

Many spring flowers and plants can be toxic to pets, such as lilies, azaleas, and tulips.

  • Preventative Measures: Educate yourself about toxic plants, remove them from your garden, and supervise pets during outdoor activities.

5. Increased Activity and Injuries

With longer days and warmer weather, pets may be more active, leading to the risk of injuries.

  • Preventative Measures: Gradually increase exercise routines, supervise playtime, and ensure pets are properly warmed up before engaging in vigorous activities.

By being proactive and aware of these spring pet issues, you can help ensure a safe and enjoyable season for your pets.

A unique aspect of Andria's training program is the inclusion of sportsmassage and bodywork, which releases the muscular tension of the horse during training sessions. Andria also offers riding lessons for outside horses, where she delves into the biomechanics of both horse and rider, creating a strong connection based on synergy and understanding. This personalized experience not only enhances riding techniques but also strengthens the bond between you and your equine partner.

Andria is known for peeling back the layers of your horse's behavior, finding the holes in their training, and finding a comprehensive solution. If you’re ready to take part in her comprehensive training program, call us for details and secure your spot! 541-636-1191
